This updater will modify the QM NameServer and will substantially improve the NameServer update time.
Introduction

There were two versions of the NameServer released, since the release of QuickMail 2.6. The first, version 2.6, was only released in the United States. Later, a 2.6 (US) version, was released in Europe and the United States. This version allows QuickMail to work correctly in U.S. and non-U.S. countries. There are no noticeable differences between the two versions. However, because of the changes, it became necessary to build two updaters. Both updaters convert the NameServer to version 2.6 v1.
To determine which NameServer Updater you will need, use the following guidelines:
1) System 6.x.x
Select the NameServer from the Control Panel.
The version will be displayed after the NameServer name.
2) System 7.x.x
Select the Control Panel and double click on the NameServer.
The version will be displayed after the NameServer name.
If the version number is 2.6, use the NS 2.6 Updater.
If the version number is 2.6 (US), use the NS 2.6 (US) Updater.

Please Note: The QM NS 2.6 Updater must be run on local machines only. Do not run remotely.
To use the QM NS 2.6 Updater:
1. If the control panel is open, close it.
2. Launch the NS 2.6 Updater (double click on the updater).
3. Read screen and click OK.
4. Locate the QM NameServer to update and click OK.
(The updater will run for about one minute)
To use the QM NS 2.6 (US) Updater:
1. If the control panel is open, close it.
2. Launch the NS 2.6 Updater (double click on the updater).
3. Read screen and click OK.
4. Locate the QM NameServer to update and click OK.

Issues Corrected in this Update

• NameServer no longer skips a day when an update extended across midnight.
• All purging is now done in a single pass upon completion of an update cycle. This decreases the update time on large data files.
• Added preamble to CompressDataFile that first checks index for deleted records. If none are found, the compression is skipped. This saves an appreciable period of time on very large date files, such as those with many imported names.
• Modified update code to delete the contents of the 'NS Temp' folder when a rebuild or update is canceled. In most cases this helps preserve file-based information.
• The new NameServer starts looking for a user in the position immediately following where it last successfully found a user. This greatly reduces the number of seeks, and decreases the update time for large data files.
